Day of inspections for the centre-left mayoral candidate Antonella Russo. But also of unprecedented diplomatic incidents. The PD councilor was among the Vascone market workers and took part, together with other Dem exponents, in the mobilization of the seafarers of the Strait (“not only the Blu Jet workers – the alarm raised by the provincial secretary of the PD, Armando Hyerace -, the Caronte & Tourist dispute, now upon us, is highly worrying”, and there is also a parliamentary question from the deputy Stefania Marino). But the “stop” that made the most noise was the one in Villaggio Unrra, in the now infamous RFI storage site, linked to the construction site of the railway doubling, which has long been under scrutiny for the continuous coming and going of trucks in Contesse, and beyond.

An inspection carried out together with the regional deputy and leader of Controcorrente Ismaele La Vardera who, dusting off his past as a “Hyena”, improvised a live social broadcast which certainly put the spotlight on the problem further, but also created embarrassment within the coalition due to the harsh tones with which La Vardera himself silenced the centre-left candidate for the presidency of the second constituency, the young Francesco Carabellò: «It doesn’t matter to you, you are candidate, we’ll leave politics and nominations to that country.”

An unexpected reaction, which created strong discontent within the party throughout the day, without, however, anyone intervening in support of the candidate indicated by the Democratic Party, obviously present at an inspection organized in the territory of “his” constituency. Paradoxically – but in line with the electoral campaign climate – the only certificate of solidarity came from the regional deputy of South Calls North, Pippo Lombardo, who also targeted the initiatives implemented yesterday by La Vardera, who produced a parliamentary question almost in real time (“urgent news regarding potential environmental and health risks, with particular reference to arsenic”) and a request for access to the documents from the ARPA and the ASP of Messina.
