A hard-fought victory, but one that qualifies for the quarter-finals of the Europa League. Atalanta won 2-1 in the return match against Sporting thanks to goals from Lookman and Scamacca in the second half: the Bergamo team also won the second match after the group stage and entered the best eight of the Europa League, an achievement which missing from the 2021-2022 season. Compared to the Lisbon match, Gasperini has changed only one element, with Bakker replacing Ruggeri. In attack the three-man attack was confirmed with Scamacca supported by Lookman and Miranchuk. The Bergamo team immediately raised the pace; after just three minutes Scamacca himself failed to worry Israel. The plot of the match mirrored the first leg, with the Nerazzurri managing possession and looking for openings and a closed and not very proactive Sporting. At the first real opportunity the Portuguese took the lead with Goncalves, able to exploit the triangle with Gyokeres. If the Bergamo players got nervous in the final part of the first half, in the second half everything changed with Lookman after just 39 seconds: the Nigerian's goal pushed the team forward, in the 14th minute it was Scamacca who signed the overtaking thanks to the return ball baked by Miranchuk.
