Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori qualify arithmetically for the semi-finals of the doubles of the ATP Finals in Turin, staged at the Inalpi Arena, thanks to the victory in two sets over Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos. The Italian pair won with a score of 7-6 (4), 6-4, obtaining their second victory in two matches after their debut (again in two sets) against Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool.
Bolelli and Vavassori didn’t take advantage of two break chances in the fourth game of the first set, then they were forced to cancel five between the ninth and eleventh games. We go to the tie break and here the blue couple raises the level, closing at 7-4. An injection of confidence that takes shape at the beginning of the second set with the opening break that paves the way to victory: Bolelli and Vavassori concede crumbs on serve, without ever resorting to advantages. Granollers and Zeballos cancel a match point in the ninth game, but everything is postponed to the next game: 40-0 and closure in fine style with the Azzurri’s jumping smash. The first verdict arrives, regardless of the outcome of the match between Cash and Glasspool against Krawietz and Puetz. The Bolognese and Turin players are in the semi-finals.
