Mayor Federico Basile has ordered, with a contingent and urgent ordinance, the closure of all municipal villas and city cemeteries for the entire day today, Saturday 10 January, from 00:00 to 24:00, following the weather warning issued by the Operations Room of the Regional Department of Civil Protection.
The alert concerns the municipal area of Messina, affected by gale force and strong winds from the western quadrants, with possible dangerous conditions for public safety, in particular in tree-lined areas and in places open to the public, where there is a risk of falling branches, trees, tiles or other unstable structures. The ordinance also provides for a ban on parking near tree-lined areas and an invitation to exercise maximum caution when traveling, avoiding pedestrian and vehicular transit in the areas most exposed to risk.
The municipal administration invites citizens to scrupulously comply with the provisions and to follow any official updates issued by the competent bodies, in order to guarantee everyone’s safety.
