With union ordinance n. 34 of 14 February 2026, the Mayor has ordered the extension of the closure of the Gran Camposanto and the cemeteries of Giampilieri-Molino and Santa Margherita until midnight on Sunday 15 February 2026.

The measure became necessary following the adverse weather events that affected the municipal area in recent days, characterized by strong gusts of wind that caused tall trees and branches to fall within the cemetery areas. The extension will allow the removal of fallen plant material to be completed and further technical checks to be carried out on the state of stability of the existing trees, in order to guarantee the full safety of the places and the protection of public safety.

The Councilor for Cemeteries, Massimiliano Minutoli, specifies: “Without prejudice to what is established by the union provision, citizens are hereby informed that the suburban cemeteries of Larderia, Santo Stefano and Mili San Marco remain open to visitors, albeit with some areas inhibited for safety reasons. However, in relation to the total opening, from tomorrow all the cemeteries in the northern area will be open as normal; in the southern area the cemeteries of San Filippo, Cumia, San Paolo Briga and Pezzolo We continue to constantly monitor the situation to allow, in the shortest possible time, the full restoration of all cemetery areas, always guaranteeing maximum attention to the safety of citizens”.
