Some families have been evacuated in the municipalities of San Sostene and Simeri Crichi, in the province of Catanzaro, due to the consequences of the wave of bad weather that is raging in Calabria. Further measures could be taken in the next few hours, considering that the alert has been increased from the orange level today to the red level for Tuesday.
Among the effects of the bad weather there were also some landslides, the most critical affected a provincial road in the Chiaravalle Centrale area; the road was closed to traffic. Various interventions are underway by the Fire Brigade both due to flooding and the effects of strong winds. The Ionian coast where intense storms are expected and all waterways are under monitoring.
Summit in the Prefecture in Catanzaro
The prefect of Catanzaro Castrese De Rosa presided over the Rescue Coordination Center convened to deal with the wave of bad weather that is affecting Calabria. Present at the meeting were the leaders of the police forces, the firefighters, the Civil Protection, Arpacal and the mayors of the province of Catanzaro. The prefect urged the mayors to issue very restrictive orders for Tuesday, when the alert was raised to red.
