The State Police of Reggio Calabria, with the collaboration of the police stations of Gioia Tauro, Palmi and Polistena, has implemented a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the GIP of the Court of Reggio Calabria, at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Reggio Calabria Calabria, directed by the Prosecutor Giovanni Bombardieri, paid by 3 subjects – PF cl. 73, SF class. 79, AG cl. 97 – all already burdened by criminal and police records, suspected, at the state of the proceedings, currently in the preliminary investigation phase and subject to subsequent evaluations, of the crime of aggravated conspiracy robbery committed on 13 September 2022, in Reggio Calabria, in the central Via Miraglia, against two Security Guards employed in the operations of withdrawing cash from a bank vault.
In the circumstance, the perpetrators of the robbery, under threat of a weapon, they managed to remove a “box” inside which the sum of approximately 60,000 euros was kept and the service pistol to one of the two security guards. As reconstructed by the investigations, conducted by the Flying Squad under the directives of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Reggio Calabria, the robbers had awaited the arrival of the security agency’s armored van and, after having noticed the entry of the Security Guards inside of the bank, were stationed inside the ATM, simulating an ATM operation. So they waited for the Security Guard who was carrying the cash to come out of the vault, and after having immobilized her they took the money and the service pistol away from her, fleeing, despite the attempted chase by the security guards themselves.
The reconstruction of the phases of the crime and the identification of the alleged perpetrators was possible through meticulous analysis of the cameras of the citizens’ video surveillance system, which was followed by the technical activity of telephone interception, which made it possible to collect serious indications of crime against both the two material authors of the robbery, and their accomplice, who, despite not having materially participated in the attack on the security guard, had facilitated the commission of the robbery by playing the role of “stakeholder” and facilitating the escape of one of accomplices.
