The mayor of Vibo Valentia, Enzo Romeo, signed this morning an order for the ban on bathing regarding the mouth of the Antonucci ditch, between the Bivona and Vibo Marina. The restrictions apply up to 100 meters, both on the right and on the left, from the exact point where the ditch flows.

“We have received a communication from the Port Authority – explains the first citizen – with which we were aware that the analyzes carried out by Arpacal have detected some parameters not compliant with the legislation on bathing waters. However, I want to reassure citizenship: we have already intervened and we believe we have removed the causes that determined the alteration of values. Furthermore – concludes the mayor Romeo – recover the sums useful for the total cleaning of the ditch in the budget, which will start shortly.

Specifically, with assignment for works of urgency entrusted today, the body has arranged the cleaning of the final section of the Antonucci ditch, which consists of two phases: the first provides for the creation of a removable transversal bulkhead for the conveying of the arrival waters and subsequent scrolling in corrupted pipe up to the wet, in order to allow access safely to the canal to the staff and vehicles; The second phase provides for the movement and removal of the waste and mud sediments on the bottom of the canal. The estimated duration of the intervention is about a week.
