Matteo Berrettini has added the athletic trainer Umberto Ferrara, former collaborator of Jannik Sinner, to his staff. Ferrara, fired by Sinner in August after the Clostebol case – for which Sinner tested positive, but was later acquitted – now returns to the circuit alongside the Roman tennis player, former top ten player and Wimbledon finalist in 2021.

Ferrara, involved in the case for having purchased a spray containing the prohibited substance which was then used by mistake by Sinner’s physiotherapist, will help Berrettini to recover his physical form after the numerous injuries that have marked his recent career. The new entry into the team represents for Berrettini a first step in the reconstruction of the staff, after the recent separation from coach Francisco Roig.
