A waltz of almost 850 tasks. These are the numbers of the massive turnover, expected for 2026, within the boards of directors and boards of auditors of the companies controlled by the Ministry of Economy. Among these is also Bluferries which belongs to the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane group.
The monumental season of renewals in the boards of directors of subsidiaries and industrial giants – as anticipated on page 9 of the paper edition of Gazzetta del Sud on newsstands today – brought a man from Messina to the top of the company whose core business is the ferrying of passengers and commercial vehicles between Sicily and Calabria.
This is Ivan Cutè, born in 1985, former president of the V municipality and former member of the Board of Directors of the Peloritano University and of the municipal subsidiary Patrimonio Messina. The appointment of Cutè, very close to Senator Nino Germanà, arrived this morning and marks a turning point for the governance of the Strait: for the first time, the presidency of the Board of Directors of the company is entrusted to a person from Messina.
The new Board of Directors will include Giuseppe Sciumè, confirmed as CEO and general manager of the company, and Katia Sacco, manager of FS Logistix, in the capacity of councilor. Sciumè, cousin of the former minister Angelino Alfano, will obviously remain in charge of the corporate management of Bluferries, while Cutè will have guidance, guarantee and representation functions.
For the FS Group company, the renewal of the Board of Directors comes after the signing of a second level agreement with the trade unions which introduces a reduction in work commitment and greater crew rotation, but at a time in which the debate on the service offered remains open.
In recent months some user associations, hauliers’ committees and institutional representatives have claimed that part of the fleet would not be used at full capacity, denouncing critical issues for motorists and commuters. Among the main issues, communication with users also emerges, with requests for more timely information in the event of changes in services or changes in departure and arrival points. For Bluferries and the new president, the challenge lies here: transforming structural critical issues and optimizing the quality of services, guaranteeing a more efficient and citizen-friendly connection.
