“The participation of the Calabria Region at the Turin Book Fair is a strategic investment for the cultural and economic growth of the region, an unmissable opportunity to celebrate and promote Calabrian identity in the national and international context”.
This is what was declared by the Councilor for Culture of the Calabria Region, Caterina Capponi, chairing an important strategic meeting – curated by the culture sector of the Education and Equal Opportunities Department – with the representatives of Calabrian publishing. The objective of the meeting was outlined by the preparatory phases for the participation of the Calabria Region in the prestigious international event of the Turin Book Fair, whose edition 2025 will be held from 15 to 19 May.
During the meeting, the foundations were laid for a significant and well -organized presence of Calabria at the Turin event, considered the most important Italian fair appointment dedicated to publishing. Calabrian publishers had the opportunity to present their editorial proposals and discuss the cultural initiatives to be achieved at the regional stand, with the intention of enhancing the literary and cultural heritage of Calabria.
“Participation in the Salone represents for Calabria a strategic opportunity to promote its cultural and literary heritage on a national and international scale,” said Councilor Capponi who officially presented the Silano library system as a subject designated to guide and coordinate all Calabrian library systems in the organization of regional participation in the Turin salon. Present at the meeting, the president of the Silano librarian system, Rosaria Succurro, Mayor of San Giovanni in Fiore and President of the Province of Cosenza who said: “This choice underlines the recognition of the excellence and competence of the Silano library system in the regional cultural landscape, obtaining a leading role in promoting Calabrian literature”.
During the preparatory meeting, the regional leaders outlined the path that will lead Calabria to present themselves in the national context. Maria Francesca GattoGeneral Manager of the Education Department and Equal Opportunities, together with Ersilia Amatrudamanager of the culture sector, illustrated the technical-organizational passages that will be implemented in the coming weeks, with the aim of structuring a significant Calabrian presence, capable of enhancing the cultural and literary identity of the territory.
The Silano library system has also announced the appointment of Francesco Mazza As artistic director for the important cultural initiative that will see Calabria protagonist with a dedicated stand. This strategic choice entrusts the responsibility to take care of both the creative concept and the detailed program of presentations, thus outlining the cultural identity that the Region intends to project through this project.
Francesco Mazza represents a multifaceted figure in the Italian cultural panorama, with a professional profile that embraces multiple artistic disciplines. His career has developed through complementary roles: as a director he has shown a distinctive cinematographic vision; As a manufacturer, it has been able to enhance significant talents and stories; As an publisher he contributed to the spread of quality cultural content; And as a creator of exhibitions and photographic competitions he created innovative platforms for the visual artistic expression.
For his part, Mazza expressed his sincere thanks to President Succurro for the prestigious appointment received, manifesting his enthusiasm for the important task of guiding the Calabrian participation in the Turin International Book Fair, one of the most significant cultural events in the Italian and European scene.
Particular attention will be paid by Mazza to collaboration with the technical structures of the Calabria Region, who will have the fundamental task of actually transforming the creative ideas proposed by the filmmaker concrete. This synergy between artistic vision and technical skills represents a key element to guarantee an effective representation of Calabria to the important Turin event, creating a space that knows how to be functional, welcoming and representative of the Calabrian cultural identity.
