The book “Bring me to the sea. Traveling for Calabria with the Guarantor of Health between denied rights and hopes found” by the journalist Domenico Latino, published by publishing workshops by Cleto, arrives on Monday 16 June, at 6 pm, in the prestigious “Carroccio room” of the Capitol, in Romewhere it will be presented with the participation of different institutional personalities and of the academic and health world. The event, promoted by the “Calabria Roma Europa” Foundation, with the patronage of the Calabrian Academy, will be an important opportunity to reflect on the Calabrian reality and the challenges it faces, thanks to the stories of ten people who have fought for their rights and have found hope thanks to the commitment of the health guarantor of the Calabria Region, an institutional figure that represents a unicum on the national scene.

After the institutional greetings of Federico Rocca, city councilor of Roma Capitale; Luciano Crea, regional councilor and member of the Health Commission of the Lazio Region; Giuseppe Salatta, councilor of the Palmi lawyers (RC) and Giacomo Francesco Saccomanno, president of the Calabra Academy, will introduce the works of the consul Domenico Naccari, president of the “Calabria Roma Europe” Foundation and the same guarantor of the health of the Calabria Region, Anna Maria Stanganelli. Among those who will intervene, Mauro Boldrini, director of the Aiom (Italian Association of Medical Oncology) and member of the Bureau of the Bureau of the Parliamentary Interior Internship “Oncology: Prevention, Research and Innovation” include; Francesco Cognetti, professor of oncology at the International Medical University Unicamillus in Rome and President of the Confederation Oncologists, Cardiologists, Hematologists (Foce), and Francesco De Lorenzo, National President of Favo and former Minister of Health. The moderation will be entrusted to Francesco Verdarami, journalist of Corriere della Sera. The author will conclude, Domenico Latino.

The book, which reports the preface by Rocco Bellantone, president of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) and Mons. Francesco Savino, vice -president of the CEI, and the afterword of the magistrate Luciano Gerardis, offers A profound look at Calabria suspended between beauty and difficulties, where determination and synergy can make the difference. With empathy and concreteness, the author, journalist of the “Gazzetta del Sud” and spokesperson of the Guarantor’s Office, tells the stories of those who found the strength not to surrender and of those who worked to build solidarity bridges. Each chapter of “bring me to the sea” is a journey into the heart of a vulnerable health system, between apparently insurmountable challenges and conquests that laugh with dignity and trust to those who need it most. In two years of mandate, the Guarantor took charge and resolved stories that seemed without a way out working alongside the health authorities, doctors, associations and citizens, often with the support of local journalists, real “sentinels” of the territory. “Bring me to the sea” is a journey to Calabria that does not surrender, which struggles for its rights and which finds hope even in the most difficult situations. Each story is a mosaic of emotions in which the sea, the guiding thread of these stories, represents the possibility of finding serenity after each storm.
