Today in Buenos Aires the Secretary General of Uil Scuola Rua Joseph D’Aprileoriginally from Belvedere Marittimo, met members of the community of the Asóciation Belvedere Maritimo San Daniele Fasanella.
“This community – explains D’Aprile – is a living testimony to the strength and resilience of Italian emigrants. Every day, with their work and passion they have contributed not only to supporting this territory, but also to keeping alive the bond with our roots”.
During the visit, D’Aprile brought greetings from the mayor Dr. Vincenzo Cascini and of the municipal administration through a letter of commendation addressed to the Italian-Argentine community.
“Their stories, their experiences, their sacrifices – he adds – are the bridge that unites the past with the future, Italy with Argentina”.
Founded in 1987, the association is a social reference in the José León Suárez neighborhood. Among its many initiatives, the presence of a nursery that guarantees quality education and a safe environment for the more than 100 children who attend it.
“As Uil Scuola Rua – the Secretary recalls – we recently supported the bill presented to the Chamber of Deputies by the Honourable Fabio Porta which includes the study of the history of Italian emigration in schools. A process of solidarity culture also useful for overcoming false beliefs according to which the migrant represents a disadvantage rather than a resource, he concludes.
