No upheaval, but only a reorganization of the balance and a redistribution of delegations to the councilors. Roberto Occhiuto is working on the details of the mini-reshuffle of the Regional Council. An act that has been announced for some time and made inevitable by the election of Giusy Prince in the European Parliament. It is precisely on the vice president position that the main attention of the rights protagonists of the story is focused. There will be no particular changes on the governor’s deputy position: it will remain in the Forza Italia quota and once again it will be expressed by an exponent coming from the Reggio territory. The most accredited name, in this sense, is that of Sunday Catalfamo. Engineer, known at Cittadella for having been councilor for Public Works in the government led by Jole Santelli and related by kinship – like Princi, after all – to the Calabrian coordinator of the Azzurri Francesco Cannizzaro.
The timing of the changing of the guard will be dictated by the European Parliament’s agenda. Yes, because Occhiuto intends to formalize the appointment only after Princi’s installation in Strasbourg. And so, in the meantime, we are considering the opportunity to make the delegations held by the other assessors more homogeneous and to assign some that have so far remained available to the presidency. Tourism, for example, could once again be the prerogative of Fratelli d’Italia, which has long been claiming greater centrality, also thanks to the primacy of consensus in the coalition achieved at the last European elections. Among the majority parties, there is also questioning about another strategic sector such as the Environment, still in the hands of Occhiuto despite the onerous commitment of Health.
