No shock at the top of the commissions in the Regional Council. The centre-right majority votes en plein and also takes home the Supervisory Commission, assigned to the opposition by institutional practice, electing the Forza Italia supporter as president – albeit with just 3 votes. Domenico Giannetta. At the end of the voting, there were two presidencies for Forza Italia (in addition to Giannetta, too Pasqualina Straface for the Health commission), two for Fratelli d’Italia (Luciana De FrancescoInstitutional affairs and Antonio Montuoro, Budget), and four for the League (Pietro RasoEnvironment, Giuseppe Mattiani, Reforms, Dear Katya, Agriculture and finally Pietro Molinaro to the Anti-‘Ndrangheta).
The attribution of the control commission to an exponent of the centre-right certainly represents an institutional breach, considering that this role is usually assigned to the opposition, but it is not unprecedented because even in the recent past we have witnessed the assignment of this role to exponents of the majority in office. «If anything, it is less – as noted during the vote by Antonio Lo Schiavogroup leader of the Misto – the commitment made by governor Roberto Occhiuto at the start of the legislature when he assured that this box would be guaranteed to a member of the opposition. The majority becomes controller and controlled.” Criticisms also come from the Democratic Party. The comment by, however, was calm Filippo Mancuso, president of the Assembly of Palazo Campanella: «I have no doubt that the permanent and special Commissions, with the renewed Presidency Offices, will continue to work, as has happened up to now, to validate their delicate function as institutional headquarters in which, in addition to research of political convergences, the debate enters into the merits of the issues before delivering the measures to be approved to the Chamber”. In any case, the representatives of Action, already excluded from the Council, are also left empty-handed (or almost).
