An organizational model designed to meet the patient’s needs and ensure the most appropriate treatment. Was The multidisciplinary cardiological rehabilitation service of the Aou G. Martino di Messina was presented this morning this morning. A model structured with a view to proximity to cardiology and in which rehabilitation becomes an integral part of the care paths. A project started in this start -up phase thanks to a Partnership with the IRCCS Bonino Pulejo of Messina Which, through an interacting agreement, will make some of its professionals available for the first period given that the IRCCS has already started this type of activity in the cardiology department with UTICs of the Piedmont Hospital in the past. The added value is represented by a multidisciplinary team composed of more professionals: cardiologist, physiotherapist, psychologist, nutritionist. A project that reflects the regional guidelines and allows you to give development plan to the potential of physical and rehabilitation medicine (COD 56) offering the population a reality with total public management.

Near the cardiology department, patients will be able to count on 6 dedicated beds of rehabilitation and a gym equipped with 4 cycles, 2 treadmills and a heart -pounded test.

Cardiological rehabilitation is an essential activity for cardiopathic patients hospitalized in cardiology and/or in coronary intensive care units.

“A service – for the rector Prof.ssa Giovanna Spatari – which certainly favors a more complete taking charge and above all a personalized welfare management, made to measure the patient. I am sure that this integration will also encourage cultural growth for our doctors in formation “.

“An organizational model – said the general manager of the Aou Giorgio Giulio Santonocito – structured to create a single flow, ensuring the taking charge of the most critical patients directly near the department by enhancing, in line with the regional addresses, the full development of physiotherapy, strengthening cooperation between companies, thanks to the generous collaboration with the IRCCS Bonino Pulejo. A multidisciplinary care path of which we will monitor the results and which we also think of replicating in other complex realities where patients often need particular rehabilitation interventions, such as pneumology and stroke unit “.

“The strategic direction and the professionals of the Unit of Cardiology of the IRCCS Bonino Pulejo – underlined the general manager dr. Maurizio Lanza – They are proud to support this possible initiative thanks to the competence and many years of experience of their physiotherapists. The territory will therefore benefit from these two exceptional rehabilitation realities. The IRCCS and the Polyclinic will always continue to collaborate for a better care quality in the province “.

“In this way – explains the director of the UOC UTIC Prof. Gianluca Di Bella -We manage to ensure a clinical-gestal continuum to the patient who receives a specialist treatment to return to the best possible psycho-physical conditions preceding the acute cardiological event “

“We believe – highlighted the director of the UOC of physical and rehabilitative medicine Daniele Bruschetta– that ensuring this service to more complex patients can constitute an added value. A synergy that certainly can make the difference in terms of prognosis and recovery on the functional level “.
