A single round of consultations will probably not exhaust the political verification initiated by the mayor Nicholas Flowery after the European elections of June 8 and 9. The meeting that took place yesterday between the mayor and the delegation of the Democratic Party made it clear that the discussion is still in its early stages and that one of the fixed points will be to re-establish the primacy of politics over “negotiations” with individual councilors or assessors. The representatives of the Democratic Party clarified the need to activate a political discussion table that will lead to a relaunch of the center-left in the city, a bit like what happened at the time of the electoral campaign that saw Fiorita’s victory.
A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then: the runoff election resulted in a hybrid coalition, with a progressive traction but with a moderate component; a tandem that evidently requires periodic fine-tuning. And a first reshuffle has already modified the initial structure of the City Council.
Now everyone is expecting the second one, at the end of the service, but the discussion will probably continue for a while longer, in contrast to the mayor’s hopes of avoiding a verification that takes too long.
