More violence in Catanzaro Lido. After the episode of 6 November, when two young people were attacked near a club, a new fight occurred on the night of 10 November involving the owners of a public establishment.

According to what was reconstructed by the Catanzaro state police, four people – three men and a woman, all between 26 and 35 years old and residents of the city – attacked the owners of the place, guilty only of having prevented them from smoking inside. From words we soon moved on to actions: threats, pushes and blows, under the eyes of numerous customers present at the time. The timely intervention of the police officers prevented the situation from degenerating further. The officers, however, found themselves faced with particularly aggressive subjects, who did not hesitate to resist and maintain violent behavior even towards the police. Despite this, the police managed to block them and restore calm, guaranteeing the safety of those present.

The images from the premises’ video surveillance system made it possible to quickly identify those responsible, all of whom were found to have multiple criminal convictions, with various criminal and police records. At the end of the investigations, the Catanzaro police commissioner ordered the DACUr prevention measure against them. (Prohibition of Access to Certain Urban Areas), provided for by Article 13 bis of Legislative Decree no. 14/2017 and known as “Daspo Willy”. The measure, adopted in record time – just two days after the attack – prohibits the four from accessing the local scene of the events and the surrounding premises for three years. In case of violation of the measure, recipients risk imprisonment of up to three years and a financial penalty.

With this operation, the state police reaffirms its role as a safeguard of safety and legality to protect shopkeepers and citizens, also underlining the importance of the collaboration of the managers of the premises, as in this case, an example of civic sense and respect for the rules of coexistence.
