Some games in the children’s park, adjacent to the “Ciampi” gardens which host the historic Gutta in the seaside district, have been vandalized and effectively rendered useless. According to what some residents reported, they were children setting off firecrackers. A gesture as gratuitous as it is harmful, as unfortunately happens in the city. Especially since the park, unusable until August 2022, had been recovered, as the families well know, thanks to the resources found by the Administration and therefore made usable and safe.

Sergi’s intervention

“The competent sector, following input from councilor Squillace, intervened immediately – says city councilor Danilo Sergi – to delimit the areas at risk for the safety of children who usually frequent the playground. However, we cannot help but reiterate the need for a civic reaction to these episodes of incivility. Irreparably damaging a public good is always a deplorable fact but it is even more intolerable when those who enjoy those goods are the most small – adds Sergi – because the economic damage of no small importance as in this case, to the image damage for the city and the neighborhood in the presence of the many who frequent the seafront, is added to the social damage; because due to some uncivilized person the important efforts we make every day to guarantee welcoming and leisure spaces for children are nullified. We therefore ask all those who have the opportunity – concludes the councilor – to contribute to safeguarding the common goods, to keep their attention high, even simply. signaling the risk of them being harmed and doing so in the collective interest of our entire community.”
