Catanzaro, the intersections on Friday evening

An ex who left behind fond memories. A young man who has been a little underrated, but is becoming a star. A team that must erase Empoli’s evidence of immaturity by scoring a third consecutive victory at home against an opponent trying to relaunch itself after changing coach. There are many individual and parallel crossovers in Catanzaro-Pescara which will restart the Serie B engine tomorrow evening after the last break of 2025.
It could have been the challenge of Vivarini’s return to the “Ceravolo” had he not been sacked just under two weeks ago. And then it will be Gorgone’s debut on the Abruzzo bench: thus the unknowns and dangers that Aquilani has to face increase.
Without Vivarini, the most awaited ex would have been Federico Di Francesco, born in Pisa but raised and weaned in Pescara and in Pescara, a true Abruzzese like his father, but the winger will probably still be out: 40 days after the partial tear to the meniscus of his right knee that sent him under the knife, he is on his way back and in the last few days he has even forced himself a little with his teammates, but it is evidently too soon. The other former player who did something good at Adriatico is Davide Bettella, an obvious starter on the centre-right of the defense in place of Cassandro, who was out due to a slight sprain on his right knee suffered in Empoli.
Bettella played in Pescara in his first two seasons in Serie B: 35 games between 2018 and 2020, earning himself a more important chance with Monza, up to Serie A. But then injuries slowed him down, causing him to lose the continuity needed to establish himself and today he is looking for yet another relaunch in the Giallorossi. Who knows, maybe Pescara is once again a favorable coincidence: Bettella scored the only brace in Serie B for the Abruzzo team (19 December 2020 against Monza).
The young man who is no longer underestimated is Costantino Favasuli, a boy from Calabria who is among the best of the Eagles in this first part of the championship. The winger has now become an immovable starter due to the effectiveness he guarantees in the two phases, combining quality with quantity. And everyone likes it: when it comes to commitment, Costantino never backs down. If Gorgone confirms Corazza on the left wing, the duel with Reggio will be interesting, lined up in yellow and red on the right: they are two 2004 players with an assured future.
