That’s why – according to Talerico – the time has come to change step, to invest seriously, to make a system. I relaunch with determination this challenge to all the potential actors, for a clear, concrete vision, based on structural interventions, which also see the Calabria Region alongside the University, but also an acknowledgment of the Cuda Rector also in order to open a discussion table with all the protagonist forces of the system to relaunch our university with concreteness.

Make the university veterinary hospital: the hub that can change everything.
The establishment of a university veterinary hub is the first essential step to relaunch the UMG. A university veterinary hospital means innovation, research, employment, services to the territory, national and international attractiveness. And above all, it means a project that combines academic knowledge and public utility and would relaunch the UMG on the entire national territory as a reference hub of the south.
On this point, I have repeatedly had an opportunity to confront the president Roberto Occhiutowho has always shown himself attentive and absolutely available. The President confirmed the will – with a formal act of commitment – to support the “Magna Graecia” University project in the context of regional competence policies, in particular for the realization of the university veterinary hospital, Because the resources are there and because it is an investment that can decisively facilitate the accreditation of the degree course in Veterinary Medicine by Anvur.
Obviously, the restoration of the degree course in Veterinary Medicine is needed, a course that has been eliminated in the past. Veterinary medicine is not a niche: it is a pillar of the health system, agri -food, prevention. And it is also a training opportunity for hundreds of young Calabrians who are forced to migrate elsewhere today.

We look beyond the regional borders. The establishment of a degree course in English medicine would transform the UMG into a recall for the whole South and for foreign students. It is a challenge of vision, internationalization, modernity. Because Calabria must be in step with the world and no longer last or penultimate in a ranking.
They are three clear, possible, achievable points. But the titles are not enough in the conferences or slogans from social media. We need a serious institutional strategy, resources are needed, it serves political will. And above all the will and awareness of those who can decide the fate of this territory is needed.
I say this as regional councilor, but even before as a Calabrian citizen: There is no future without a strong, alive, capable of generating development university. We can no longer limit ourselves to the lament. We have the right and duty to change!
