The aid recognized for the 2024 year has arrived for thousands of Calabrian farmers as a compensatory allowance for companies operating in mountain areas or in any case in areas characterized by natural disadvantages.

With the approval of the final list, published on the website www.calabriapsr.it at the end of the examination and evaluation phase of the 36,035 applications received, the payment of the 34,332 applications deemed eligible began.

A sum equal, in total, to over 67 million euros is available to the beneficiaries, allocated within the Calabria PSR following authorization from the European Commission, which gave the green light to the implementation specifically requested by the Agriculture Department, in order to ensure greater financial resources.

The tender, activated last July, saw its procedures concluded “rapidly, in order to guarantee – comments the regional councilor for Agriculture – Gianluca Gallo – adequate support for companies involved in maintaining crops in internal areas as well as in those marked by other natural disadvantages and which represent an important part of the Calabrian agri-food sector, as well as the regional demographic and cultural fabric”.

“The speed with which the bureaucratic procedures were addressed – remarks Gallo -, already in itself representative of the change of pace compared to the past, will allow us to guarantee further support to companies weakened, in recent years, by the negative consequences of the pandemic before , and the subsequent Russian-Ukrainian conflict, as well as by the spread of epidemics that affected livestock farming and, in general, by the recurrence of climatic adversities, in particular drought, which causes serious repercussions on agricultural entrepreneurial activities”.

The liquidation of the available resources will begin in the next few days, with the payment by the paying agency Arcea, as an advance, of approximately 43 million. The remaining part will however be liquidated by June 2025.
