Three Palestinians from Hebron, West Bank, were arrested for training a cell with the aim of assassinating far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and his son. The police and the Shin Bet (internal security) made this known. According to the prosecution, the main suspect, Ismail Ibrahim Awadi, had established contacts with Hezbollah and Hamas to secure weapons and assistance. The cell monitored Ben Gvir and his children who live in the Kiryat Arba settlement. One option was to assassinate him at the scene of a terrorist attack.
Meanwhile, the US Senate has blocked a measure aimed at stopping the sale of tanks and other weapons to Israel. The American media reported it. The measure, which would have stopped the sale, was introduced due to fears of human rights violations and the excessive number of civilians and children killed by Israeli forces in the Palestinian territories. Fifty-nine out of 100 opposed the stop, while 15 supported it.
