During an anti-drug service carried out in Corigliano Rossano, the soldiers of the Operational Section of the Territorial Department of the Carabinieri, with the investigative coordination of the Castrovillari Public Prosecutor’s Office, directed by the Chief Prosecutor Alessandro D’Alessio, arrested a 39-year-old local man in flagrante delicto, considered seriously suspected of the crime of «possession for the purpose of trafficking of narcotic substances».
In recent times the soldiers of the Carabinieri had noticed unusual movements near the home of a young man in Contrada Fabrizio. Reason which led the Carabinieri to believe that the structure could be a place where drugs were potentially kept. On the basis of the elements collected and after the necessary investigative connection with the Judicial Authority of the Castrovillari Public Prosecutor’s Office, a thorough search of the building in question was carried out in the early hours of this morning.
The person concerned, once he realized the presence of the military personnel, attempted to get rid of the narcotic present in the house. An attempt that was of little use to him as, after the searches, over 600 grams of marijuana – hidden and preserved under vacuum -, other doses of the same narcotic, a dose of cocaine and an electronic scale, most likely used to package the individual doses to be placed in the drug dealers. The narcotic found had been cleverly hidden in various areas of the house.
The narcotic nature of the recovered substance was ascertained using the reagents available to the Carabinieri and will subsequently be subjected to laboratory tests. The man seriously suspected of possessing the narcotic was arrested and placed in the Castrovillari prison, where he will remain at the disposal of the Magistrates of the Castrovillari Public Prosecutor’s Office.
