Corigliano Rossano, the two historic centers destined to host only ghosts

«Depopulation and abandonment are transforming the two upper towns of Rossano and Corigliano in two real ghost towns.” The strong complaint comes from the opposition municipal councilor of Corigliano Rossano and provincial councilor, Adele Olivowho points the finger at the municipal administration for the alleged inattention reserved for the dynamics that should revitalize the two historic centers and for the failure to listen to citizens, and above all to traders. In this regard, getting to the heart of the situation experienced by the few citizens and traders remaining in the two ancient cities, Ausonian and Byzantine, he highlights, in relation to the historic center of Rossano, how «in 2023 alone which has just ended, as many as seven commercial activities in the Center alone Historic Rossano have definitively lowered their shutters. Objectively – Olivo reiterates – this seems to us to be a notable and alarming fact which should not allow those who play ruling class roles in the City to sleep peacefully”. To all this we can certainly add the closure of the Banca Bper branch, despite the requests of the citizens’ committee who had proposed at least keeping the branch branch open for two days a week. A certainly worrying photograph, the one described by the municipal councilor, who takes the opportunity to underline once again “how this progressive and dangerous drying up of one of the two historic centers of a single city of art which has no equal in Calabria, including entrepreneurial and commercial due to the complexity and distinctiveness of its identity heritage, it also represents the outcome of an institutional indifference at all levels which has continued since the installation of the Stasi Executive”.
