The disappointment of Sunday’s final result chilled the joy of Sofiane Achour, who scored her first professional goal against Atalanta Under 23.
«I am happy – he says – that this goal arrived with the shirt of Cosenza, an important club. For me this is a source of pride. It’s a shame, however, that we weren’t able to collect at least one point. The incidents penalized us. I had another opportunity to score but sometimes you also have to give credit to your opponents. I calculated the trajectory of Dametto’s tower, I coordinated to turn it into the goal and I think I did it well but Vismara was very good and denied me the brace. At the end, also due to the substitutions made, we rushed forward but conceded the opponent’s goal. It will be an extra incentive to continue improving.”
The French-Algerian striker has never started until now but makes no demands after the first goal: «Some choices fall to Buscè. For my part, I am aware that I have to continue working with my head down, insisting on what I am doing. The coach, when he allows me to play, always makes specific requests based on the moment of the match. Sometimes he asks me to attack the depth, at others to keep the ball. I listen to him and try to put into practice what he asks of me and I will continue to do so, also through the advice of my older and more experienced companions. The senators in the group are the ones who give advice to us younger people every day. In this Cosenza there are many kids at their first approaches to the C series.”
The striker, who arrived in Italy, at Cagliari in 2022, is a great football fan: «In my free time I spend a lot of time on YouTube listening to interviews with established footballers and coaches to try to understand their secrets and learn about the steps that allowed him to reach certain levels. I got into football because I was crazy about Cristiano Ronaldo. As I grew up, however, my source of inspiration became Karim Benzema, for his movements and position on the pitch. However, I like sport in all its forms. I especially like tennis and swimming”, says the 20-year-old, revealing traces of his intimacy.
Tomorrow, meanwhile, the possibility of redemption passes through Sorrento: «We must avoid some mistakes made with Atalanta Under 23. An unsuccessful passage could last within a season. Now we have to recover the winning mentality and think about one opponent at a time.”
