Cosenza, accident on the A2: traffic jam and long queues between the city junctions

The gates of hell opened immediately after the A2 city junction, in the early afternoon, towards Rogliano. It is there that, for reasons currently being investigated, two vehicles collided on the southern carriageway. An accident with three injured transported to the “Annunziata” by the 118 paramedics. Three people who arrived, fortunately, in non-serious conditions, although one of the drivers had to be rescued by the firefighters to free him from the tangle of twisted metal in which the unfortunate man was trapped. On site, also the Highway Patrol officers and the Anas staff who worked intensely to reduce the inconvenience.
The collision, however, worsened the already critical traffic conditions on the southern carriageway of the Salerno-Reggio Calabria on a Saturday with a black dot, with many vehicles coming from Northern Italy and abroad and headed to southern Calabria and Sicily for the holidays. Vehicles that had already had to overcome other bottlenecks further north in the morning, between Salerno and Battipaglia and between Sicignano and Sala Consilina.
The fever in the eyes of motorists quickly rose inside that funnel as the queue lengthened towards the Cosenza Nord-Rende junction and continued for a few kilometres. A road reduced to a traffic jam despite the removal of construction sites for the upgrading of the “Mediterraneo” motorway. Works that promise a bright future and are the starting point for fighting resignation, restoring hope to a battered land like Calabria.
The proven synergy between rescuers allowed the cap to be removed in a short time despite having to deal with the inevitable line of cars under the blazing sun.
