The Annunziata Cardiology Operational Unit, directed by Dr. Francesco Greco, expands the healthcare offering: as part of a complex program to relaunch and reorganize services, the transcatheter ablation service for cardiac arrhythmias has been activated. A first male patient who had been suffering from episodes of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia for some time was subjected to treatment. The procedure, performed by Dr Gianluca Quirino of the electrophysiology and electrostimulation team, was effectively completed using a three-dimensional electroanatomical mapping system of the heart. The method allows the anatomy of the cardiac chambers to be reconstructed without the use of ionizing radiation, with consequent notable advantages for both operators and the patient. “It is ongoing – declared the director of the UOC, Dr Francesco Greco – the implementation of specialized cardiological services and performances, thanks to the technological investments strongly desired by our Company Management, which allow us to offer, today to our users, innovative endovascular treatments in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and in particular of atrial fibrillation which today We remind you that it represents the most widespread heart rhythm disorder, affecting approximately 750 people out of 100,000 inhabitants with an increased risk of ischemic stroke and recurrent hospitalizations.
