On Saturday 22 November, at the Italiana Hotels in Cosenza, a medical conference of great importance will be held entitled “News in the management and treatment of diabetes and obesity according to new standards of care”. The event is organized by Francesca Mazza’s provider Xenia, with the scientific responsibility of Dr. Annalinda Indrieri, supported by the scientific secretary Dr. Angela Mazza.
“Diabetes mellitus and obesity represent two of the most widespread and complex global health challenges today. Pathologies united by shared risk factors and pathogenetic mechanisms, profoundly impact the quality of life of patients and the sustainability of health systems”, anticipates the scientific director.
The evolution of scientific knowledge and the updating of the ADA 2025 guidelines have introduced important innovations in the clinical and therapeutic approach, promoting increasingly integrated, personalized and evidence-based management.
“Among the pillars of the current treatment strategy are the early adoption of digital technologies for the monitoring and therapy of diabetes; the integration between pharmacological pathways for diabetes and obesity and the emerging role of new therapeutic classes such as GLP-1 RAs, fundamental in the management of metabolic and cardiovascular risk”, we read in the rationale.
At the same time, the multidisciplinary contribution in patient care is strengthened, with the synergistic involvement of diabetologists, cardiologists, endocrinologists and general practitioners, with a view to preventing cardiovascular, hepatic and metabolic complications.
The objectives of the congress? “The conference intends to provide a timely and multidisciplinary update on innovations in the therapeutic, technological and organizational fields, with a specific focus on personalization of treatment according to new international recommendations, therapeutic synergies between diabetes and obesity, the role of new molecules in cardioprotection and management of metabolic risk,” says Indrieri. We will also talk about the use of digital tools and artificial intelligence to support clinical practice and the strategic role of the general practitioner in the territorial management of complex chronic patients.
Through frontal sessions, discussions and comparisons between specialists from the territory, from Unical and from the hospital, with the participation of engineer Marco Manna, full professor of computer science at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, whose research activity is located in the area called “Artificial intelligence”, the meeting aims to encourage the diffusion of best practices and to fuel a shared reflection on the evolution of treatment models for high-impact chronic pathologies. Appointment from 8.30 onwards
