The judges of the Review Court write of «… multiplicity, dating, and consistency of illicit conduct ascertained» in the management of the disposal centre. A company management which in practice had led, according to the accusation, once again, once again in Messina, to the «… criminal exploitation of the Guidari stream through the organized and unscrupulous management of a huge quantity of waste of all kinds, special and dangerous, in order to obtain huge illicit profits».
And it is essentially for this reason that the judges of the Review accepted the appeal of the Prosecutor’s Office and ordered the seizure of a vast area in Vallone Guidara, a hamlet of Forte Cavalli, with the disposal company of the entrepreneurs Salvatore, Giuseppe and Massimiliano Croce at its centre. Measure that was carried out yesterday morning.
Already in recent months, after the results of an investigation started in 2023, the investigative office directed by Antonio D’Amato had asked the investigating judge for house arrest for the three entrepreneurs and for the seizure of the company and the site. But last July the investigating judge said “no” to the requests. Hence the District Anti-Mafia appeal to the Review judges, who accepted the request and ordered the seizure. And among other things it must be said that for the matter there is also an evidentiary incident in progress before the investigating judge for the prosecution-defence comparison. Overall, there are 11 suspects in the investigation: in addition to the three Croce entrepreneurs, the entrepreneur-haulier Carmelo Brunetta, the waste transferers Giuseppe Brunetta and Giorgio Visalli, the haulier-conveyors Biagio Aloisio, Giuseppe Roberti and Luciano Musarra, and finally the employees of the Croce company Abdelouafi Enassiri and Sebastiano Ferrara are involved.
The crimes contested by the magistrates, in various capacities, are the organized activity of illicit waste trafficking, committed jointly by the entrepreneurs Croce, the owner Salvatore and his sons Massimiliano and Giuseppe, considered de facto managers of the company complex, and the environmental disaster. The time frame of the dispute goes from 2020 to today.
