The President of the Chamber of Commerce of Cosenza, Klaus Algierswas elected today for the second time, Vice President of Unioncamere Nazionale, the Italian Union of Chambers of Commerce.

After having held the position of vice-president with responsibility for work for three years, Klaus Algieri, the first president of a Calabrian Chamber of Commerce elected to be part of the National Presidency Office, was then reconfirmed – also for the first time – by the Assembly that met today to elect the President and the new members of the body, to lead which he was re-elected Andrea Priest.

The President indicated the objectives of the Chamber system for the next three years, on his proposal the Assembly also renewed the appointment of vice presidents to the eight presidents of Chambers of Commerce, members of the Bureau of the Unioncamere. The Unioncamere government team is therefore made up of:

Antonio Paoletti (Venezia Giulia), who maintains the role of Deputy Vicar; Klaus Algieri (Cosenza) Leonardo Bassilichi (Florence); Tommaso De Simone (Caserta); Giorgio Mencaroni (Umbria); Giuseppe Riello (Verona); Gino Sabatini (Marche); Mario Domenico Vadrucci (Lecce).

Founded in 1901, Unioncamere is the public body that unites and institutionally represents the Italian chamber system. Thanks to its central role, it creates and manages services and activities of interest to the Chambers of Commerce and economic categories, coordinating the initiatives of the System through directives and addresses to the bodies that are part of it.

Unioncamere plays a crucial role in theexercise of the functions and tasks entrusted by law to the Chamber of Commerce bodies. It stipulates program agreements, understandings and conventions with central government administrations, national or local public bodies, promoting and supporting the connection of the Chamber System with business, consumer and workers’ organizations.

At European level, Unioncamere ensures the representation of the Italian Chambers of Commerce within Eurochambres, the association that brings together the chamber systems of Europe, thus consolidating the role of the Italian Chambers of Commerce in the European context.
