The debate on the Single City animates the urban area. And if we looked at the history of our country, the current one would seem to be a sort of clash between Guelphs and Ghibellines. Yes, because the confrontation between fusion supporters and “autonomists” is heated and constant.
Mario Occhiuto, senator of Forza Italia and mayor of the Bruzio capital for two legislatures, he is a convinced supporter of the birth of the new large municipality of the urban area. «I only see advantages and not critical issues» he states «if we think about the sectors of public transport, culture and waste collection. The State, among other things, promotes the merger between municipalities so much so that it invests important resources with which budgets can be harmonised, works can be built and maintenance activities carried out on existing structures. In the first five years, the State also provides that the imposition of taxes can be differentiated”.
The architect who lends himself to politics has been talked about several times in recent months of furious controversy as the first possible first citizen of the new body. Occhiuto, however, has a completely different opinion.
«I have already been Mayor and I don’t aim to repeat the experience. I support the single city because it already exists in fact and I don’t understand why a population that moves daily within the three centers involved in the unification process should not be administered by a single administrative structure. I can’t find a single credible argument to use against the merger.”
