The collection to… recover. Irene Telesio, philosophy teacher, lives in Florence but has always kept the city of the bruzi in her heart, maintaining an indissoluble relationship with the places where she was born and raised. The history of his family has been intertwined for centuries with that of the capital. And this not only for his ancestor Bernardino – a philosopher now studied all over the world and who amazed the scholars of his time because he questioned Aristotle – but because of the public and institutional roles exercised by other ancestors over time.
Irene Telesio, together with Roberto Bilotti Ruggi of Aragon, donated to Cosenza an impressive collection of artefacts of various kinds that belonged to the noble Cosenza family. The collection was placed in the Casa delle Culture from which it was then moved while waiting to be repositioned. The move was due to the assignment of the structure to a theatrical and cultural association.
«The assets» explains Marilebna Cerzoso, director of the Brettii and Enotri museum «were registered, being bound, by the consultants of the Superintendency and transferred partly to the Rendano theater and partly to the Spadafora palace». In fact, however, they were no longer exposed as the donors had requested from the beginning.
Irene Telesio says: «I would like them to be put back together and exhibited permanently. I would also be happy to implement the donation.” The mayor, Franz Caruso, seized the opportunity by guaranteeing the full availability of the Municipality to think of a concrete solution.
