The Club Cosenza Coordination Center breaks the silence and entrusts the denunciation of a situation now defined as unsustainable to a very harsh document. An intervention that acts as a spokesperson, we read, for the feeling of “deep humiliation” that involves fans and citizens, going well beyond the sporting aspect and touching on the themes of decorum, ethics and dignity of the city and the entire province.

According to the Coordination Center, the latest episodes involving the Cosenza Calcio club represent only “the tip of an iceberg made of approximation and disorganization”. In this context, the words of former sporting director Fabio Lupo are also recalled, who spoke of a “cultural gap” considered today confirmed by a series of behaviors deemed embarrassing, from the offenses aimed at members of other clubs to the management of relations with the refereeing team.

“It’s no longer a sporting issue”

In the document the Coordination Center speaks openly of a question of “social hygiene”, underlining that it is no longer a question of technical results. «Cosenza Calcio is not an untouchable private property, but an intangible asset of the community», we read, with a direct appeal to the institutions not to stand by and watch when the city’s image is exposed to a negative judgment at a national level.

Hence the question addressed to the city authorities and, in particular, to the mayor of Cosenza: what still needs to happen for action to be taken? The Coordination Center also recalls the promises that emerged during the meeting on 29 September at the Cinema San Nicola, now asking for an act of responsibility to protect the image of the city and its citizens, «today hostage to a management that has removed thousands of fans from the steps of the “Marulla”».

The escape from the club and the call to the square

The failure of the corporate project, according to the signatories, would also be certified by the flight of managers and employees. Among others, the former general director Salvatore Gualtieri and the former sporting director Fabio Lupo are mentioned, together with dozens of workers, mostly from Cosenza, who left the club due to the lack of minimum conditions of dignity and respect.

The complaint is followed by the announcement of a mobilization. The Coordination Center calls together fans, citizens and anyone who feels wounded in their sense of belonging, announcing a demonstration in the streets of the city centre. The date and time will be agreed with the organized groups, in the hope of uniting all the components of the fans around a common goal.

The farewell list

The document contains a long list of figures who have left the company, defined as “the disengagement list: 32 farewells that weigh like boulders”. Among the names mentioned include Emanuele Del Duca, Rosanna Mortati, Andrea Napoli, Carlo Sprovieri, Daniela Fiorelli, Andrea Montanini, Daniele Cianflone, as well as former managers Ursino, Gualtieri and Lupo, together with numerous collaborators from the various sectors of the club.

The conclusion is clear: «We will not allow our passion and the name of Cosenza to be trampled on further». The document is signed by the Cosenza Club Coordination Center.
