«My goodness, what's up? There are still people in the car.” Thus yesterday afternoon a driver commented on yet another fatal accident that had occurred shortly before on the Silana-Crotonese state road 107. His words of amazement ended up in a video that went viral in a matter of minutes.
The images captured the moments immediately following the accident which occurred yesterday around 5pm near Brasimato in which two people lost their lives and two others were seriously injured. Following the head-on impact, a “Wolksvagen Golf” car ended up crushed on the guard rail of the right lane with the occupants still inside, a mother and her daughter, unconscious from the impact they had suffered.
Further ahead, the “Fiat Grande Punto”, completely destroyed at the front, with the two victims of Crotone on board who died instantly: 33-year-old Lorenza Aloisio and her 43-year-old boyfriend Piero Riolo.
When the 118 health workers arrived at the scene of the tragedy, they found themselves faced with a heartbreaking scene. The two passengers of the “Fiat Grande Punto” who no longer showed signs of life, demonstrating that the collision had been fatal. The intervention of the firefighters of the Crotone provincial command was necessary to extract them from the car. And while the rescuers could only confirm the couple's death, another ambulance urgently transported the two injured people – also pulled out of the wreckage of the “Wolksvagen Golf” by the firefighters – to the “San Giovanni di Dio” hospital. of Crotone. Here, the girl's mother had to undergo delicate surgery following the serious injuries she sustained, but her daughter was hospitalized in the intensive care unit where she is kept under observation by the doctors. For both the prognosis is reserved. State Road 107 remained closed to traffic for several hours to allow the officers of the Crotone Traffic Police, who are conducting the investigations, to carry out the necessary investigations in order to understand the dynamics of the collision. The causes of the accident, still to be ascertained, will certainly have been influenced by the conditions of the asphalt of the “107” which was wet at the time of the accident as the rain had been coming down on that stretch since the morning.
Lorenza and Piero were passionate about dance and were Caribbean dancers. The two were returning to Crotone after taking part in a dance competition last Saturday. In the evening on social media there were numerous messages of condolence for the death of Lorenza and Piero from friends and acquaintances. «Friends, relatives, colleagues but even before that childhood companions… I will never forget the days spent together and the evenings organized with all our colleagues, you were the pillar of joy that brought us all together… may the earth be light on you tvb », wrote a Facebook user in memory of Piero. And then: «A sad Sunday. A golden boy, everyone's friend. RIP my friend”, we read in another post.
