On the proposal of the deputy mayor and councilor for public greenery Sandro Cretella, the City Council of Crotone approved the executive project for the execution of extraordinary maintenance works in various green areas of the city, for a total investment of 170,000 euros.
The intervention aims to improve the usability, safety and decorum of city parks, with particular attention to the enhancement of the urban green heritage and the creation of new spaces for the benefit of the community.
The project involves interventions in the following parks: “Zanotti Bianco” Park, Via Calabria Park (Papanice) and Via Achille Grandi Park (Mimose Park)
The “Zanotti Bianco” Park, on which most of the resources are concentrated, will be the subject of an overall redevelopment, which also includes the creation of a municipal nursery, intended for the production and cultivation of plants for the city’s green areas.
The planned interventions include: painting the perimeter railings and replacing the damaged parts, construction of internal fences for the functional subdivision of the different areas, creation of curbs for the flowerbeds, installation of new street furniture, removal and installation of part of the existing fence, construction of new walkways, restoration of the existing fountain.
As regards the Via Calabria Park (Papanice), the intervention mainly concerns the safety of the green area adjacent to the main road, through the creation of a fence made of treated wooden poles and metal mesh.
This solution will guarantee an effective protective barrier, while preserving a pleasant and natural visual impact, and allowing a safer and more orderly use of public space.
In the Park of via Achille Grandi (Parco delle Mimose) the interventions will concern: the painting of the perimeter railings and replacement of the damaged parts, building repairs aimed at improving the safety and usability of the park.
“With this project we continue on the path of care and enhancement of our green heritage through the action plans approved annually. The approved interventions will not only improve the quality and safety of city parks, but will make public spaces more livable and welcoming for families and children. In particular, the creation of the municipal nursery represents an important step towards a more sustainable and autonomous management of urban greenery, strengthening the link between environment and community” declares the deputy mayor Sandro Cretella.
