The general secretary of Fpcgil Area Vasta, Franco Grillo, the secretary of Fpcgil Medici Area Vasta, Ivan Potente, the general secretary of Fpcgil Calabria, Alessandra Baldari, and the general secretary of Cgil Area Vasta, Enzo Scalese, expressed, in a note, their “firm opposition to the Resolution of the Extraordinary Commissioner No. 524 of 07/11/2025, which paves the way for the privatization of health services at the “San Giovanni di Dio” hospital in Crotone”.

“This measure, which involves the management of a new operational dialysis unit by private entities, represents – according to the trade unionists – a dangerous and unacceptable attack on the rights of all citizens. It is alarming to note that all this is happening in Crotone which is already the Calabrian province with the highest incidence of private healthcare, exceeding 50% compared to public services. This transformation of the healthcare system is creating unacceptable inequalities, diverting resources and attention from the needs of the community to profit of a few.
Resolution 524/25 completely ignores the information and discussion procedures with the social partners, as provided for by the CCNL, demonstrating a worrying lack of interest in workers’ rights and the quality of care provided to citizens”.

The four trade unionists announced that they had “already sent a formal warning to the General Management, requesting the immediate revocation of this resolution. If we do not receive an adequate response, we will not hesitate to take legal action to protect citizens’ rights and defend an accessible and quality public healthcare system. We cannot allow public healthcare to be sold off. Our battle, we reiterate, is not only to preserve quality services accessible to all, but it is a fight for the principle that health must remain a priority public, not a profit opportunity for private individuals. The community of Crotone deserves to be able to count on healthcare services that are fair and inclusive. We will be determined in our action and will make our voice heard as a chorus of fight for fair healthcare, to ensure that citizens’ rights always come first.”
