On the occasion of the commemoration of the deceased, the police commissioner of the Province of Crotone, Renato Panvino, accompanied by the Prefect Franca Ferraro, paid homage to the fallen members of the State Police with the laying of a wreath of flowers as a sign of gratitude towards those who sacrificed their lives in the fulfillment of duty. The provincial Commander of the Carabinieri and the Provincial Commander of the Guardia di Finanza also took part in the ceremony.
The moment of reflection, full of emotion and participation, wanted to renew the memory of those who lost their lives in defense of the community and for respect for the laws that found the country’s democracy.
Subsequently, at the Carmelite Monastery, governed by the prior Sister Costanza, the Holy Mass was celebrated officiated by the Chaplain of the State Police, Monsignor Pancrazio Limina. The celebration, accompanied by the nuns’ choir, took place in an atmosphere of intense spirituality and emotion.
In his final speech, Police Commissioner Panvino recalled that the sacrifice of the men and women of the State Police represents “a beacon from which every policeman draws inspiration on a daily basis, putting his heart beyond the obstacle to serve the community and the weakest”. The Police Commissioner also wanted to pay homage to the Assistant Chief Coordinator Aniello Scarpati, who fell two days ago while on duty in the Campania region.
The ceremony concluded in a climate of profound participation and respect, in the presence of the highest civil and military authorities, officials of the Police Headquarters and all the staff, in a heartfelt tribute to those who, with their sacrifice, contributed to guaranteeing the security and democratic values of the country.
