“Calabrian culture receives a new and stronger boost with important investments aimed at supporting the strengthening of the sector in the library sector, as well as in the creation of theme parks dedicated to important figures of Calabrian literature. It is a clear signal that President Occhiuto wanted to give to the entire sector, which certainly represents a strategic item of our regional gross domestic product”.

This is what the Councillor for Culture of the Calabria Region states, Catherine Capponiin presenting the two exploratory expressions of interest, published by the Culture sector of the Department of Education, Training and Equal Opportunities, and aimed at strengthening the system of private libraries and the establishment of author theme parks.

“In line with the provisions of the Cohesion Agreement signed between the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Calabria Region last February – continues Councillor Capponi – with the first expression of interest, called Cultural Parks: in the footsteps of the great Calabrian writers, we listen to the territory to learn about the cultural activities and sites present in Calabria that already valorise the great Calabrian authors and at the same time the audience of potential beneficiaries”.

The Cultural Parks, in fact, develop along the places of life and inspiration of the great Calabrian writers and poets who become a cultural and environmental heritage to be protected, enhanced and made accessible to visitors through a journey into literature, into memory through activities, cultural interventions, demonstrations and events.

“With the second expression of interest – continues Capponi – we intend to support Calabrian Libraries and Archives, especially private ones that are often little known due to their size, through the selection of projects aimed at their enhancement. In fact, Calabrian archives and libraries have historical documentation of great value that often risks being forgotten if not put in the conditions to best express their capacity for cultural and tourist attraction, also through the use of technological and innovative tools. From the adhesions that will come from these two distinct expressions of interest – concludes the Councilor for Culture Caterina Capponi – the Region will be able to calibrate the economic quantification for each individual notice”.
