With “his” militia Hezbollah decimated by Israeli raids and the explosion of pagers and walkie-talkies in Lebanon, Iran tries to flaunt its confidence and promises – once again – revenge and the destruction of Israel, on the day it parades its troops in remembrance of the war against Iraq (1980-1988). Taking advantage of the parade to show the world new weapons that should signal a military power that is better not to challenge. The parade that marks the beginning of the Week of Sacred Defense was attended by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who incited the entire Muslim world to rise up against the “Zionist regime”. “If the Islamic nations use their internal power, the Zionist regime will be removed from its place in the heart of the Islamic community,” he said.Unity among Muslims will create a power that can not only eliminate the Zionist regime, but will also put an end to US influence and interference in the region,” he urged.. Khamenei called on Muslim states to cut economic ties with Israel. “If the two billion Muslims around the world unite, they will be more powerful than any power in the world today,” he added.
The supreme leader’s words coincided with the presentation in the square of two new weapons: a long-range ballistic missile, called Jihad, which uses liquid fuel and a new suicide drone, the Shahed 136-B, which will strengthen the arsenal of these weapons that Tehran has. President Masoud Pezeshkian instead had to underline the strength and inviolability of Iran (which however were not enough to prevent the killing in Tehran of the head of Hamas Ismail Haniyeh, at the end of July) which “have made it impossible for any demon to violate our soil and invade the country”. The president also called for “unity and cohesion among Islamic countries”: “If we unite and shake hands, Israel, a usurper, bloodthirsty, criminal, merciless, will not be able to continue to perpetrate its crimes,” he stressed. From New York, where he is in view of his speech at the UN General Assembly, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi read the message sent to Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah: “The struggle and resistance against the Zionist regime will continue with greater determination, thanks to the efforts of the courageous fighters of the Islamic resistance front in Palestine, Lebanon and throughout the Western Asia region, until the liberation of the Palestinians and Jerusalem from Zionist occupation.” But for now, the Shiite militia in Lebanon continues to be in Israel’s sights: today alone, more than 100 targets were attacked in Lebanon, including launch complexes and militia infrastructure, the army reports Israeli (IDF). Minutes after the IDF announced the ongoing attack, a barrage of about 25 rockets was fired from southern Lebanon toward northern Israel.
