“Cutro Calabria Italia”, the documentary film directed by Mimmo Caloprestifinanced by the Calabria Film Commission and produced by Alfamultimedia, it is among the finalists of the 2025 silver ribbons. The five have been revealed for each category and, for the Cinema del Reale section, Calopresti’s work will compete together with “Ukrainian lyric” of Francesca Mannocchi, “In the name of the silence- the Church and the shadow of the mafia” of Antonio Bellia“Before the end of the last days of Enrico Berlinguer” by Samuele Rossi“Real” of Adele Tulli. The award ceremony will be held on March 10 at the Barberini Cinema in Rome. “Cutro Calabria Italia” tells the tragedy that happened on February 26, 2023 in which an old wooden caraco with 180 migrants on board was wrecked in the spa of Cutro, in the province of Crotone, causing the death of 91 people, including 25 children. The director told and documented the consequences of the shipwreck and the reaction by the institutions of Calabria and the Calabrians who responded with a strong, effective and warm mobilization.
