The City Councilor of Fratelli d’Italia Dario Carbone has requested a convocation of the 1st Council Commission “traffic and public works” in order to understand the methods and timing of yet another construction site that is planned for the cycle path in via Cesare Battisti.

“Yet another construction site in the city will open shortly: I wonder about the real usefulness of this additional cycle path considering the dramatic road situation in the center of Messina and the lack of use of the existing ones” declares Carbone.

“I believe it is appropriate for the Road Commission of the Municipality of Messina to express its opinion on this issue and discuss it in the presence of Councilor Mondello, and the competent managers, as well as obviously the Municipality concerned also in order to understand the repercussions in terms of traffic” continues Carbone.

“I still remember the debate in the City Council regarding the PUMS when, by voting against the measure, I raised the issue of the abnormal quantity of cycle paths included in the Plan. I was told that their inclusion in the PUMS would not automatically equate to their creation: this is the result” continues Carbone.

“It is also paradoxical how these choices are made from above by the Administration with the provision of council resolutions and without any involvement of the City Council” concludes Carbone.
