Los Angeles is on its knees due to devastating fires which they have already caused at least two victims and numerous serious injuries, according to what was declared by the chief of the Los Angeles Fire Department, Anthony Brown. The flames, fueled by strong gusts of wind, are continuing to devastate several areas, forcing authorities to intensify evacuations.
80 thousand evacuated and extensive damage to buildings
The number of evacuated rose to 80 thousand in areas surrounding the city, with fires spreading from Palisades Fire on the west coast up toEaton Fire to Altadenawhere the flames have already burned approx 900 hectares. Among the places affected there is also the prestigious one Jet Propulsion Laboratory from the NASAwhich had to suspend its activities for safety reasons.
San Fernando Valley under threat
Two more outbreaks in the San Fernando Valleyfurther north, are worsening rapidly. The toll of destroyed buildings already exceeds 10 thousand unitswith the mayor Karen Bass who launched an appeal to citizens: “The situation is worsening, stay safe.”
