«Differentiated autonomy is the tool with which the League wants to divide the country and allow the Northern regions to spend their fiscal residue in their respective territory». With these words, the senator Nicholas Irtosecretary of the Democratic Party of Calabria, replies to recent statements by the president of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaiaaccording to which differentiated autonomy «is a great opportunity against centralism».

“Zaia – Irto insists – is aware of lying on a political level. The president of Veneto knows very well that the minister Roberto Calderoli, his party colleague, has distinguished the matters of autonomy between those related to the Essential Levels of Performance (Lep) and the others. This idea allows the richest Regions to immediately request autonomy for the so-called non-Lep matters, in order to retain billions of euros in their territory. In fact, Zaia immediately made a specific request, as soon as the shameful law on autonomy was published in the Official Journal”.

«In the face of reality, the request for a moratorium by President Roberto Occhiuto is useless – continues the Democratic senator. Those who are against differentiated autonomy must be against it with facts and with actions that lead to the repeal of this unfortunate law. We note Zaia’s fear for the referendum on autonomy, which will determine the electoral collapse of the League. This is because even the companies of the North – concludes Irto – are strongly threatened by this law branded Calderoli”.
