«The Regional Council of Calabria unanimously approved my motion relating to the integration with regional resources of the “Fund for Non Self-sufficiency”, in order to allow a greater number of families with a very serious disability to benefit from the contribution expected economic. I am very satisfied: I intend to thank all the members of the Council for the sensitivity shown and for having supported my proposal to extend this contribution by including other families who had previously been excluded from the list of beneficiaries”. The regional councilor stated this in a note Ernesto Alecci.
«We have won a battle of dignity, to make less unfair – continued Alecci – a very serious situation, which I had publicly denounced a few weeks ago, when scrolling through the lists I learned how hundreds of families had been left off the list even with an ISEE of just over 6,000 euros. For example, in the province of Catanzaro alone (but the reasoning could be extended to all the provinces of Calabria) out of more than 500 applicant families, only 188 applications were admitted. These are families who, as can easily be understood, live in very difficult conditions, having to cope, despite their precarious economic condition, with the continuous assistance of non-self-sufficient people who are unable to independently carry out basic activities, such as dressing, washing , eat”.
Finally, Alecci highlighted that «with the approval of the motion and the commitment of the Council, the Calabria Region will have to take action to integrate the FNA funds already allocated with its own resources and also include families with a higher ISEE. The Regional Council has given a good signal of civility, providing concrete help and a bit of relief to many Calabrian families in facing the great daily difficulties.”
