An emergency plan that also includes the rotation of water supply for homogeneous areas, in order to guarantee supply to all municipalities in central Calabria. This is what is being prepared Sorical, the Calabrese water service management company, to try to deal with the serious drought that is affecting, in particular, the Crotone Presila in crisis, the aqueduct scheme that gravitates around the Lese river. The water flow has significantly decreased both upstream and downstream. In the last few hours, the company informs, the production of the Ipot has dropped from 120 liters per second to 75 due to the lack of raw water to be made drinkable, while the springs have had a dizzying case of production: from 130 liters per second to 70. A drop, according to Sorical, never recorded in recent years.
For days, technicians have been busy carrying out inspections along the route to check for any illegal connections or leaks.in order to stem the crisis, since the weather forecasts, after months of persistent drought, give no escape from here until the end of the month.
The Lese aqueduct is one of the most complex in Calabria, serves a vast territory of municipalities between the provinces of Cosenza and Crotone. The northern branch serves the Ionian centers located south of the province of Cosenza (Campana, Mandatoriccio, Scale Coeli, Pietrapaola, Terravecchia, Cariati Centro), the southern branch serves the municipalities of Crotone: Verzino, Umbriatico, Pallagorio, Cirò, Crucoli, Carfizzi, San Nicola dell’Alto, Melissa, Casabona, Belvedere Spinello, Strongoli, Rocca di Neto.
