The Court of Appeal of Catanzaro, in accepting two defense requests, ordered the replacement of the measure of custody in prison with that of house arrest against Giuseppe Grillo (lawyers Gregorio Cacciola and Giovanni Vecchio) e Massimo Pannaci (lawyer Giovanni Vecchio).
The defendants were arrested following an arrest ordered by the DDA of Catanzaro in January 2017 on charges of participation in an international drug trafficking association.
They were sentenced by the Court of Vibo Valentia – with a sentence confirmed by the Court of Appeal of Catanzaro – respectively to sentences of 15 and 16 years of imprisonment.
The defense requests, positively evaluated by the Catanzaro Court, were aimed at obtaining a degradation of the precautionary measure also due to the considerable period of preventive detention suffered by the defendants.
As a consequence of these decisions, Giuseppe Grillo was released from prison, while Massimo Pannaci remains in prison for another reason.
