‘Editor’s note in Piedmont, towards the sentence of the “Echidna” trial

For those who have chosen the abbreviated rite, the sentence of the trial linked to the maxi anti -mafia investigation “Echidna” is scheduled for next June 17th, at the Court of Turin,which involves 18 defendants. Among them also Salvatore Gallo, a former prominent exponent of the Turin Democratic Party, for which the prosecutor asked for a sentence of 2 years and 10 months of imprisonment.
The trial was born from an investigation conducted by the magistrates of the Turin DDA who lit the spotlight on the alleged infiltrations of the ‘Ndrangheta in the North-West, with particular attention to public contracts.
Among these, those relating to the Turin-Bardonecchia motorway (A32). At the center of the investigation is the Calabrian family, however, transplants for many years in Piedmont, of Easter, originally from Mammola, and with the head of the eighty -year -old head of the eighty, Giuseppe Easter. A family unit, according to the investigators, who would have managed to create a local mafia -style cell connected to San Luca to Brandizzo.
