“Today the Inter-ministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development (Cipess), following up on an amendment of mine that was approved in Parliament at the end of the last legislature, has approved the allocation of the 20 million euros provided for by that specific law for the reclamation of the Falcata Zone, in Messina, also identifying the implementing body which will be the Port System Authority of the Strait”. This is stated in a note, Matilda Syracuse, Undersecretary for Relations with Parliament and Forza Italia MP. “An important milestone – she adds – that Messina has been waiting for decades, achieved after years of hard parliamentary work, study and analysis, repeated and positive discussions with the government. Finally, it will be possible to start the reclamation of one of the most fascinating quadrants of the city, a preparatory operation for its future and definitive redevelopment, including the Real Cittadella and other historic buildings. The goal, in perspective, is to make the Falcata area a point of reference for the people of Messina again, fully enhancing the entire territory that lies in the vicinity of the Port for a tourist and commercial relaunch of the City. Today’s – Matilde Siracusano concludes – is a decisive step in the right direction, now it will be up to each player in the field to be a protagonist and able to win the challenges that we will face”.
