The Muro Leccese Circuit hosted the second round of the Italian Karting Championship. A high-speed weekend in Puglia, stage number two of the Italian Karting Championship, which began under the best auspices for the driver from Cosenza Ermanno Quintieri.
Starting from Thursday's free practice and, even more so, from Friday's, the signs were more than
satisfactory and, in the first official qualifying session on Friday afternoon, Quintieri demonstrated that he is a driver capable of remaining in the leading group. The driver from Cosenza took pole position with an impeccable performance, highlighting his talent and determination. Saturday was equally positive: he won one of the heats, maintaining first place for all 15 laps and demonstrating exceptional control and speed. In Saturday's second heat, he achieved a top 10 finish, consolidating his position among the best riders in the championship.
In Sunday's finals, among the karts at the start, the blue/silver colors of Praga number 164 stood out, having rightly earned place no. 7. In the first race, he finished tenth, but a penalty demoted him to eleventh place. In race 2, unfortunately, a contact put the driver from Cosenza out of action when he was fighting to aim for the podium.
He is currently fourth in the Italian Championship standings in the KZ2 U18 category, confirming his status as a young talent in karting.
“It was a great feeling to get pole position and win a heat in such a competitive championship,” said Ermanno. “Above all, I am happy with the improvements that my team and I are making. Despite the difficulties encountered on Sunday, I am satisfied with the results and the lessons learned. I will continue to work hard to improve and aim higher and higher.”
Quintieri is already looking to the next round of the Italian championship, from 21 to 23 June, at the Val Vibrata Circuit.
